Transformation and Fulfillment

Begin with an open heart to experience the fullness of each day. Acceptance is another key to fulfillment. You cannot have that which you cannot conceive of. Focus your attention upon transformation. Transformation can only come about from within. Move within yourself and share the consciousness of now. It is your sense of inner connection. I am that which I have turned my attention over to.

Establish your focus on high and then from then begin to see yourself as you truly are in the image of your aspirations. It is necessary to achieve distance in order to increase your perspective on who and what you really are. Before you can travel far within you need a destination that is a solid foundation for you. It is the place that you may call home in terms of where you want to come from in order to become that which your heart desires.

You are that which you are seeking as you become more versed in the awareness of being. The language of becoming can only originate on high. On high is not a mythical place nor is it unfathomable. The only thing that is necessary in order to reach on high is your unflinching awareness that such a condition is natural to you.

As you move through each day you travel and transform yourself through various dimensions. Your thoughts carry you and your will supports you but it is only from on high that you are lifted up. It is from on high that the true transformation takes place. Consider the times in your life when changes came upon you so swiftly that you could not possibly keep up with them. Your mundane thoughts were left behind and suddenly there were openings that defied your reason. You had no choice but to go with this flow. Soon however your life settled into a feeling of status quo and perhaps you felt blocked in your movement forward. The purpose of focusing on high not only removes these apparent sense of being blocked it also activates the centers of awareness most directly influencing those openings which rush your heart's desire speedily towards you.

Activate by focusing your attention on high. Visualize your awareness coming from on high and then by passionate direction give yourself the thoughts and feelings of fulfillment. Localize these feelings and accept them as your own. Practice does make perfect in this case. You live in the lucid dream and require frequent wake up calls to your active awareness. In a sense you will be stepping outside of yourself even during your waking conscious moments.

'HAMLET And therefore as a stranger give it welcome. There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.(Hamlet Act I Scene V)

Rise up therefore and look often beyond your comprehension for it is from there that the answer you've been searching will find you. When it does your heart's desire shall rest complete within you and you will know that bliss of fulfillment through transformation.

The Mystical Promised Land

Every day you are making your dreams come true. Each time you think about that which you choose you are directing the flow of energy in this direction. You build up as energy centers of awareness specific areas of personal interest. As these energy centers became imbued with your imaginings you will find more and more representations of them in the physical realms you frequent as in your daily life. Where you live in Mind becomes the place you'll see in kind. The only difference between those who are most successful at this type of thinking and those who think they are not is this. The successful thinker knows that his or her thoughts are always effective. The choice of the successful thinker is to think thoughts that he would like to see demonstrated in his life.

There are energy centers of your awareness. They are lines of thought that you return to for one reason or another. Think of these centers in much the same way that you conceptualize the ten Sephiroth of the Kabbalah. Exactly the same type energy is being used in either case whether you ascribing your attention to abstract thought or to thoughts which are near and dear to you. It is both your watchful inner and outer eye that will alert you to the various forms taking place. These forms appear out of nothing. It is your recognition of their relevance that makes them especially significant to you.

The other day I was riding along Interstate Five and chanced to look over at the retaining walls which butted up against various residential neighborhoods. It is a road I've travelled countless times. Suddenly I had the thought that it would be a good idea to have doors in these walls. I thought to myself, 'what if someone wanted to pass through from either side.' Then as if by magic these small wooden doors began appearing throughout various sections as I continued along the highway. When I told JJ about it we looked over and there weren't any doors. I haven't been back to check this particular stretch of the highway to see if I had imagined those doors or they were indeed actually there and my subconsciousness was simply pointing them out to me today. Either way it was a magical occurence and an example of thought taking form. I noticed at the time a synchonicity between what I was thinking and then therefore seeing. It was an entirely natural occurence which I accepted as a matter of fact. It also represents a level of consciousness that we do not normally interact with and if we do we cannot bring to mind the awareness necessary to note the extradinary nature of this synchronicity. The feelings I had at the time I would like to describe to you.

I was an instrument through which consciousness was looking. The usual background chatter had disappeared. I had the first impression that there couldn't be a door in the wall but then I saw one. I thought that this was just an anomaly and perhaps not a door but then as I proceeded down the road I saw more doors at periodic intervals in exactly the way I thought that it should have been. Six or seven doors passed by when I mentioned what I was seeing to JJ. As soon as I spoke about it I no longer saw any doors in the walls. It was odd but in the life of a mystic such things have become commonplace.

This example above represents a kind of specialized seeing that seems to come of its own volition. It is akin to a lucid dreaming state. There are however times when you can call upon this special vision to aid you in seeing before you that which you want to call into being. It begins as a promise of things to come still it acts as the evidence of the certainty that you need in order to fully realize your intention.

Bahir Verse 101

Journey towards the center in this passage and ignore for the moment the detailed explanations.

Bahir 101. Rabbi Berachiah sat and expounded: What is the Lulav that we discusses? It is the 36 (Lu) given over to 32 (Lav). And how? He replied: There are three Princes, the Axis, the Sphere and the Heart. Each one is twelve, and the three therefore constitute a sum of 36, through which the world is sustained. It is thus written (Proverbs 10:25), "And Righteous is the foundation of the world."

Commentary: We are ascending through an area known as the 'hidden levels.' Here the natural course is to ponder the meanings of the letter Lamed and Vav and try and find out the relationship that exists within the Tree of Life in terms of these three Princes. If we do so then we shall never obtain the true expressions that are alluded to here. It then becomes important to move quickly as these openings are suggested but they are not clear except for eyes accustomed to the light. Learn to move in the direction of your thought setting the way before you as you go. Use the Bahir now as a compass and an instrument to discover the way within. The Bahir cannot by itself get you there. It is up to you see your objective clearly and to uncover the way that is exactly yours to follow. This entire verse gives us course directions. The specifics you can work out for yourself. What is important here is that the place that you are being led into is the mystical promised land and that will be the topic of the next post.

Nothing is as it appears to be. Perhaps this is the greatest understatement of our times. One moment there is the status quo. The next time you look around everything is different. It is a most subtle focus of perception that allows you to see more than what seems to be there.

Choose the Mystery

You can travel anywhere that you can conceive. It isn't just a place you are going to but it is a state of mind. Mind cannot stay in the same state but must always be changing. It's nature is to be fluid and flowing. Mind atrophies when kept in the same patterns of thought. Dreams help to expand those patterns but it is up to your conscious awareness to activate and initiate the waves of inspiration.

You are the ripple maker in the pond of your awareness.

Affirmations and rote prayers cannot be effective unless you center your awareness during the act of knowing that the pebbles you are casting forth into the center of the pond will most definitely produce the waves on shore. I've called this act of knowing Certainty in past writings. It is important to have this Certainty at the forefront of every exercise in Mind. In order to pass through or to pass over the sea of doubt you will need to remember this Certainty and accept it as your connection to the Mystery.
It is ironic that in order to know something for sure you have to then be ready let go into something that is the mother of all unknown's the Mystery. Let's consider the Mystery for a moment or for an eternity.

The Mystery may best be conceived of as that which is coming be, has always been and yet never was until the moment of its becoming. This is the pivot point upon which we choose to make our stand. Try and conceive of the Mystery without the concept of time even though in the above description we use time to suggest the different relationships we have with the Mystery, everything happens in synchronicity with the Mystery so that past present and future all are a part of a single unit of contemplation. It is this contemplation that then begins to build worlds for itself in reflection of all that comes under the rays of its concentrated focus. The Mystery can best be perceived in the transitions that mark the passing of Thought through the various levels of unfoldment. Everything you are today is a result of this unraveling of meaning from Thought. You are what you make of yourself in any given moment. If you choose to take the best that you have to give to yourself and then allow yourself to let go within these contemplations the results will be your Certainty. You cannot come to know that which you haven't chosen to be.

Bahir Verse 100

We arrive at verse 100 and there is a curious departure. The source of all is brought forth. Watch and see what develops.

Verse 100. And how do we know that "" refers to the Blessed Holy One? It is written (1 Kings 8:36), "And you, O Heaven, shall hear." Was Solomon then praying to heaven that it should hear their prayers? But [we must say that he was praying] to the One whose name is Heaven. It is thus written (1 Kings 8:27), "Behold the heaven and the heaven of heaven cannot contain You." This is the name of the Blessed Holy One. You therefore have fire. How can you then say that it was before? But we must say that their Power existed before the Forms of that place. Only then did these Holy Forms come into existence. What is their Power? It is that regarding which it is written (I Samuel 2:2), "There is none holy like God, there is none other than You, and there is no Former like our God."

Commentary: Here we are talking about how everything came to be. In this verse here we see presented the Mystery out of which all that comes after bases each point of its focus in the ensuing forms of manifestation that are ranged before us in order of archetypal appearance. When we look up to pray there is the assumption that it is on high that we are to look for where our answers come from. When we rise in this way in contemplation what we come up with are the realms of thought that offer wisdom and understanding. This points to the purpose of the Sephiroth that are constructs of the creative imagination given in such a way that our thoughts are charted their courses infused with the certainty of place. This place is where you are in relation to the Mystery. When you are conscious of this at all times your movements are literally in line with the Mystery. When it talks about 'you O Heaven shall hear,' this refers to the greater part of our awareness. You see there is always a place of connection and an aspiration for connection. Before you can derive your direction the place before you as in 'the heaven and the heaven of heaven" must be conceived. Specifically your thoughts can be directed towards the objective you seek and then enjoin the process of raising that objective to its highest purpose.

Align yourself with the Mystery. This keeps coming through no matter what way we come into aspect with it. It keeps running through the Zohar and the Bahir as a recurring theme. It also is there in abundance in the Torah as we have already seen in many the interpretations that have already been received. No matter what you can conceive of there is always something more to be discovered. The name of the Holy One specifically refers to our point of focus. It speaks to exactly where we are directing our thoughts if we are in fact choosing to direct them instead of allowing ourselves to be swept along by mass consciousness. Out of this concept of conscious direction the image or idea of fire is brought forward. This fire is so consuming that it sweeps aside the flows of mass consciousness and allows our own directed purpose to flourish. It is the same fire that sweeps aside doubts prior to our entrance into the mystical Garden of Eden which is guarded by the flaming sword. This fire is before all of the forms have come into being speaking of the forms of mass consciousness. This fire is the on track perspective of the Holy One. The One of your Intention. Make no mistake about this because Unity and One are the foundations of all Aramaic writings dating past the advent of the Melchizidek.

In the verse above there is conjecture in terms of asking how can you know. The verse isn't meant to give any specific answer but it is meant as it shows to ask the questions that will cause your mind to ponder what the significant meanings are. When we go through these commentaries there are answers that are called forth but they are the answers that come out of these moments we share together. When you contemplate these very same verses more answers may be given. The Bahir in its intent is interactive like the computer programs we learn today. Each step we take depends upon our greater understanding of the program as we go along. The forms of that place are the thoughts which issued from the Holy One because of the realization that out of Unity can come a multiplicity of meanings. We are led then into a contemplation of God in God's holiness and we are brought into the awareness once again of Infinite nature of God. Yes our thoughts are being directed as much by what is said by what is not being said. In the same way this verse gives us now a verifiable method for studying future verses. We can relate these verses to Torah, to God, and to the suggestions in Mind that are presented due to our contemplation of these matters. In this contemplation we come into contact with the energy of their making and so continue this process. It is like these sages who have written here have provided us with a basic model upon which we may endlessly build upon. That is why I always speak of openings and of your heart's desire. These openings are where we attach our contemplations to and then from there we have our place of departure in order to fulfill our heart's desire endlessly.

Enter inside of the Grand Design

Always travel beyond the bounds of expectation. Remember that your highest thought has yet to arrive on the scene. It awaits merely the next moment of contemplation. This next moment is the point of power which allows you the freedom to enter into advancing states of consciousness. The boundaries of thought are produced by the status quo, the expected answers, the usual given responses. What you are learning how to do is to press on past limitation. It is the greatest discovery that you can make when you know without doubt that you can move your mind into perfection by the efforts of your will to exceed these limitations.

Align yourself with purpose and become the center inside of the grand design. Think about this. When the clouds disappear from the sky and all that you can see is an infinite horizon full of piercing blue your memory of those clouds disappears as well for they are as if they never were. The same is true about any doubts that are in your mind. The piercingblue horizon of calm and peace are always there waiting for only one thing; it is only your attention and your focus that are called for.

Your attention is the act of remembering the clarity of vision that you are capable of. Your focus occurs when you follow through with that attention and allow the jazz chords of your inspiration substitute for the status quo. Then in keeping with this metaphor you play a new melody which enlivens the status quo allowing you to see everything in a new light. This new light shines by virtue again of your attention which not only keeps its focus but ameliorates your position in the grand design so that you move ever closer to the center. At the center there is unity. Unity in heart and mind, thought and word and action combined with experience. There at the center you are made in the image of all that you have ever aspired to be. When you act from the center all of your actions are impeccable.

Imagine now with me the perfection of such a state of being. There at the center thoughts and actions are not separate. You get to experience the whole you. Nothing is left out and there cannot ever be any regrets. I point out this kind of conceptual center because the map needs to have a distinct marker placed upon it. If you tell me you are going to somewhere and you don't know the name of the town or even how to get there, chances are you will never reach your destination. Let's say for example you really want to go to Cleveland (It's always Cleveland. Don't ask me why:) Now with adistinct destination in mind (you remembered and have placed your attention upon Cleveland) you can focus on what waits for you there and obtain directions from Mapquest to get there. You continue to focus make all of your connections and soon you arriveat your destination. The same exact series of events are played out when your destination in the center of all or the center of the Grand Design. Everything that we have been leading up to has been about taking you where you want to go. First we had to determine the place and then the directions. Then we move by inspiration.

Inspiration is the quality of letting go and allowing the inner voice to clearly show the way. In the Torah this Inner Voice is in evidence in this remarkable passage from Number 14:1414 they will say to the inhabitants of this land, who have heard that Thou LORD art in the midst of this people; in as much as Thou LORD art seen face to face, and Thy cloud standeth over them, and Thou goest before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night;

Let's look at this passage and see how it relates to what we have been talking about.

Commentary: First of all consider yourself to be an inhabitant of this land that is described here. Then the Inner Voice appears as in 'heard that Thou Lord.' The Lord of your consciousness cannot be other than your own Inner Voice which you choose to hear in the midst of the land which is actually your body. This Inner Voice is in the midst of this people. The Inner Voice is in the center ofthis people because in the midst of means that it is surrounded by this people. People in this case refers to the myriad of other lesser voices that emanate not from the center but from the periphery. Call these the voices of doubt or refer to these lesser voices as imperfect aural images within. The next part of the verse is curious for it says, 'Thou Lord art seen face to face.' Lord is translated from YHVH. This gives us an insight into this tetragrammaton. YHVH as a name for God refers to an inner perception that we can see philosophically 'face to face.'

Jacob says in Genesis 32-31

31 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: 'for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.'

Contrast this with Exodus 33:20

20 And He said: 'Thou canst not see My face, for man shall not see Me and live.'

And then further on it says Ex: 32-21-23

21 And the LORD said: 'Behold, there is a place by Me, and thou shalt stand upon the rock. 22 And it shall come to pass, while My glory passeth by, thatI will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with My hand until I have passed by. 23 And I will take away My hand, and thou shalt see My back; but My face shall not be seen.'

I've taken these apparently contradictory passages to show you that there is definitely a way that God is seen face to face and the discovery of this is where your center of being lies. The central pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night reveals something else along the lines of the inner voice. By day we are conscious. Our conscious mind builds up the witnesses of its own focus. In this case the witness to our continuing attention is liked to a Pillar Cloud. Our focus is pregnant with forms of our imagination that we have been directing for our central purpose in this Grand Design. As we touch the heart of our purpose there is an overflowing of experience symbolized by the constant reminder of the Pillar of Cloud during the day or during our conscious moments. At night when the subconscious mind unfolds the Pillar of Fire represents the raising of our will to the level of brightness meant to influence our actions and provide us with a direct pathway into the central focus that we have been maintaining. This central focus moves with us and brings forth experiences according to our attention during the day. The fire is a purifying flame that relates back to what we were saying the other day about the flaming sword in the Garden of Eden. It shows us the way of return to the Garden of Eden or the place of full consciousness. In so doing our awareness becomes one with this flame and our perceptions are accordingly opened to the level of unity.

Interlude:

I move into the perfection of my being. I am translated by the wind. In movement in mind I set my course and then I am set free and rise to my own reflection. Each new revelation extends the feelings of totality that I am witness to.I become that which I think I am. My thoughts continue to grow in scope and comprehension as if in some way they are threading theirway through form and inside of connection. This is what is taking place for I can feel the subtle changes affecting every part of my being. My connections are building upon themselves and seeking out the light of novel experiences to inspire and to make the status quo malleable.

This central focus within the Grand Design is the only place where you can access immediately the sense of the totality of being. Due to the nature of the Grand Design we usually pass through this point of access without realizing it all the time. By definition we are all a part of this Grand Design so that it must be a part of us eternally. The spirit that is thought raised to its highest level seeks unity with the central core of this Grand Design. Thought or spirit does not seek escape from matter but rather searches for the transformation of matter and its interpenetration. Think of spirit not as residing in matter but as being a part of something larger that permeates all matter. You can also think of spirit as being the intelligence of matter and that this intelligence is singular in its design. The purpose of intelligence is to expand via simulataneous connection with every part of its being. It just so happens that every part of being is a part of intelligence. Notice how we have been using different conceptualizations to describe this Grand Design. This is exactly what Modern Kabbalah recognizes as the reconstituting force.

Remember in the earliest descriptions of Kabbalah the concept of the sparks being cast by the infusion of the divine will or intelligence into matter. These sparks ended up being the souls of living beings and there was postulated the concept that there are some sparks that reside in the shells of this initial bursting forth. These shells are called klippoth which are thought to be devoid of life only simulate to a lesser degree the shadows of life. However this description is based upon the big bang theory of manifestation where there was a bursting forth of creation and everything that comes after is aresult of this bursting forth. If we accept this view for our meditations then we must accept that creation, everything that is is based upon this beginning. The problem with this concept is that we are asked to accept an Infinite God who emerges out of this beginning. Let's see what other ways we can look at this and still keep our thoughts consistent with the information we are constantly receiving.

If we start with Infinity the concept of beginning or ending loses its meaning. There are beginnings of course but how can there be 'a beginning' that supercedes all. Once we identify this beginning Infinity no longer is. This concept of 'the beginning' is something that cannot stand up to Infinity. You see this Grand Design is something that is continuous. It is always seeking connection through expansion. That which is called Spirit is constantly entering the picture. That which is called Soul constantly is emerging from the darkness of the lack of connection and then experiencing this connection of the continous Spirit. The Soul is what we become by virtue of the overflowing of Spirit. Now to explain this in terms of Thought, Will and Infinity.

How is your thinking promoted? This gets us back to beginnings again. Spirit is the continuous energy of the Grand Design that is seeking its expression within the constructs of your thinking feeling being or that which is called Soul. It is this Soul that you are the steward over. The Soul is a kind of collection vehicle that expands when spirit enters and enables the connection apparatus of the Soul to see behind the matter inside of which it is enclosed. Imagine that you spend your life with no thought for others and only live to feed your body. Your opportunities for connection then become very limited indeed. Ifyou decide to help others by seeking a spiritual connection at all times then the opportunites for these kinds of connections will grow. When Soul connects with Spirit it is for the purpose of expanding the energy field and promoting even more opportunities for positive expression. Instead of just the body of your immediate experience being the only relevant source of enlightenment your field or arena of expression may expand through another living being be that another person, your plants, pets, the sea, the earth, the stars, galaxies far beyond, or the Infinite. You get the picture. Connection expands the field of your vision. The more that you can see and the greater perspective you have in your vision the more you are able to chart the course of your own self expression.

All of this is a lead in to the milestone of our study of the Bahir. Verse 100. Stay tuned

Universal Planetary Connection

Universal Planetary Connection

The purpose of a universal planetary connection is to acquaint you with the idea that you are capable of using the entire multiverse as a place for your mind and thought energy to traverse in. It is through this agency that you are able to connect with the various degrees of energy resident out there and to become familiar with their complexities in order to connect in each moment according to the transformations desired therein. Use the entire playing field. Your imagination cannot have any bounds.

If you think about it all systems of philosophy or religion describe a cosmology that is but a shadow of their attempts to describe what infinity is like. The evidence of miracles only goes to reinforce the unlimited possibilities that exist from day to day within a seemingly mundane world. Most of the time our attention is fascinated with things that take away from this all encompassing view. That is why the focus must always be gently returned to the Infinite so that our minds may continue to grow and immerse themselves further into the realms of the Mystery.

My ambition has always been to figure out how everything works. I came in with this kind of directive. My earliest memories are of the observation of the transformation from one state to another. Usually these observations came after the fact which is why my questions always remained. Lately however, I've been trying to see what was going on even in the middle of what I am doing currently. I want to take into account all experiences in order to direct the flow of experiences into the areas I most would like to travel. This is something that I've always believed not only possible but reproducible time and again across the entire spectrum of experience.

Modern Kabbalah seeks to find the meanings in sacred texts in order to apply them to the study of our daily lives. The ultimate study then becomes cause and effect as even the act of our study of the Zohar or Bahir produces the effects of raising our consciousness to new levels of perception. This perception ties back into exactly the way everything works. It provides a specialized lens of inquiry through which now our study can improve upon itself. These improvements are entirely self sustained through the utilization of every new perception that is brought forward.

It is the manner of our thinking that determines the substance of our thoughts. When thought is so directed towards the way everything works the ideas begin to flow in this area and we can then build upon the new concepts that are generated by this mode of thinking. A feeling emerges that becomes the central mode of discovery. This feeling is your connection with the transformative consciousness that makes something out of nothing. As you begin to move inside of these environs confidence comes from repeating the awareness of these feelings as they move within you.

Note: In order to move within consciousness you have to find a space to launch from. It is distance or perspective that gives you this psychic space. Another way of saying this is that you need to be open to the new ideas that issue from your request to uncover the unknown. Enter into a state of readiness. This allows you to take off at a moments notice. You will find that you will always be starting over as you remember more and more each moment to become suddenly aware.

You will know that the sphere of your influence is widening when you find yourself returning to your focus with a quiet intention. This quiet intention however, has become infused with the intensity of your returning motion which acts like dropping another pebble in a pond to produce another series of ripples. If you strike the same center after a while the effect becomes a swell that reaches far beyond the shoreline where these ripples of thought breakthrough to and on.

How can you keep the energy flowing in phase? A sustained focus creates its own phase but once broken this phase may deteriorate. How do we take up where we've left off? The key to synchronizing the phase related nature of sustained creation is the inner voice. It is the power and persistence of this inner voice which makes for the continuity of substance. The inner voice in its expression must not only be brought forth but must be given a free rein to communicate the ideas of universal connection. It does so by the reflected image forms of non linear consciousness.

Non Linear Consciousness is the state of mind or being where thought is able to escape the usual bounds of associations and leap to inspirations which are beyond the status quo. It is during this non linear state of conconsciousness that the totality of the whole may be embraced. Through this bonding or recognition of the whole ideas are shared making for greater bonds of influence affecting the rate of inspirational return.

As you move forward things happen to you to show you that even the steps you thought you had to take weren't necessary after all. A great deal of skipping takes place and causes a subsequent pattern of motion based upon the certainty of your objective. This certainty builds ladders for each awakening to the next level of enlightenment. You can think of these levels as Sephiroth of enlightenment because the type of energy that is encompassed does pass through the various stages of zimzum. In practice these stages also are transformed much the same way in which we view the transformations of the four worlds of Kabbalah taking place. They intersect and grow within each other and cause each other reciprocal invention.

The Sephiroth of Kabbalah do tell us what is going on at any given in our quest to rise above the status quo. This ladder of Sephiroth provide a stable influence that can be anchored in our memory. Then acting from this anchor or certainty of being we may take off into those parts unknown that beckon to us. Look to the nearest star. Your thoughts touch there. Look into the blackness of space where no stars appear. Your thoughts travel even to the most invisible of stars and far out beyond the reaches of comprehension these thoughts do transform themselves into stars and star systems based upon the energy their making and destined to become universes and galaxies of their own one day.

I think we've gone far enough for one session. Always. Later.

Always. Later.

Bahir Verse 99

Let us continue on these pathways of discovery. Verse 99 dances with meanings. We will discern them and make some new ones to contemplate.

Bahir 99. What are these Forms? They are that regarding which it is written (Genesis 3:24), "And He placed the Cherubim to the east of the Garden of Eden, and the flame of a sword revolving, to guard the way of the Tree of Life." What is the meaning of, "He placed to the east (kedem) of the Garden of Eden"? He placed it in those paths that preceded (kadmu) the place that was called the Garden of Eden. It was also before the Cherubim, as it is written, "the Cherubim." It was furthermore before the flame, as it is written, "the flame of a sword revolving." Is it then before [the flame]? Heaven is called Shamayim , indicating that fire and water existed before it. It is written (Genesis 1:6), "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it be a division between water and water." It is then written (Genesis 1:8), "And God called the firmament heaven (Shamayim). " How do we know that the heaven is fire? It is written (Deuteronomy 4:24), "For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God."

Commentary: We are talking about the forms of our imagination. There we are directly immersed in the imaging of our reflection. When they say guard the way to the Garden of Eden it might be interpreted as guarding as in keeping someone or something out. A usual guard patrols and issues challenges to intruders. Here the verse says: Krd-t)

The JPS version translates this as to keep and not as Kaplan does when he translates it as to guard. In any event let's make the point again that the meaning is there so that we'll remember the way of return and that it will always be there for us to come back to. The flaming sword is the flash of inspiration which revolves within our consciousness. What we are talking about in terms of the Garden of Eden is the state of full awareness. We can only remember this state of being because we have all been there. It is the memory of this awareness that produces all inspirations and fosters every feeling of connection.

What are these Cherubim to the East of Eden. East is where the sun comes up. The Cherubim are our spiritual reminders that are activated during our inspired moments so that when we pass through the waters of consciousness we maintain our spiritual integrity and are not swayed by the passing away of time. We then experience the quickening which is denoted by the fire in the verse 99 above. It is the fire of understanding which does consume your doubts and provide both the spark and the fuel for our continuing journey all the while sustaining our awareness of the Garden of Eden or the fully aware state of being.

Consider the expression of thought as it travels through different media. The four worlds are represented here. None of these four worlds is independent of the other. Always you will have the challenge of reaching beyond yourself in comprehension. When you do so there is integration of the understanding that you have been going through. Intention will always lead to this point.

The last verse, 'the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God links us up once again in the four worlds. What is consumed? Our doubts the way of the status quo. This is what is consumed. Why jealous? Because you stand facing the mystery and sometimes turn away. When you turn away you lose out or appear to lose out. Jealous is a poor term here as the Torah has already gone through the many veils of its own making by now. A better term would be watchful as in the Lord your God is omnipresent in your lives. You cannot ever escape your own karma. Moses in the verse before speaks of not being able to enter into the land of Canaan and then after speaks about what happens when your children disobey this omnipresent God. Moses has his anger to blame for stayin behind and even though he has the understanding he isn't able to live his life according to this omnipresent God. It is ironic yes but more telling it is a true description of karma and its unerring way. The children who must be watchful are symbolic of your words and thoughts. Here is where you must be watchful and remember the omnipresence of God. If you speak unerringly it could bring ruin from an incomplete or wrongful making.

Verse 99 is telling us that by being mindful of all four worlds we are able to find our way back to the Garden of Eden. Our lives are determined by how we proceed amidst the omnipotence that surrounds us. Beyond these symbols are the very real facts of our lives which cannot escape the karma of our actions. It is only through right thought and action that we may proceed to lift ourselves up on high.

Bahir 98

It is uncanny how our study of the Bahir sometimes mirrors questions I've been pondering myself during the week. Previous we were discussing the transformation of consciousness. Here in this verse 98 a similar theme comes through.

Bahir 98. And all the Holy Forms oversee all the nations. But Israel is holy, taking the Tree itself and its Heart. The Heart is the beauty (hadar) of the fruit of the body. Similarly, Israel takes (Leviticus 23:40), "the fruit of a beautiful (hadar) tree." The date palm is surrounded by its branches all around it and has its sprout (Lulav) in the centre. Similarly, Israel takes the body of this Tree which is its Heart. And paralleling the body is the spinal cord, which is the main part of the body. What is the Lulav ? [It can be written] Lo Lev ; "it has a heart." The heart is also given over to it. And what is this Heart? It is the 32 Hidden paths of Wisdom that are hidden in it. In each of their paths there is also a Form watching over it. It is thus written (Genesis 3:24) , "To watch the way of the Tree of Life."

Commentary: The beauty of the body. This is analogous to the holy forms being spoken of. It is the archetype of the body. If we extend the term body to mean any thought form then we begin to see what this verse is speaking about. The spinal cord and the 32 Paths of Wisdom are discussed. Visualize now the connections you may feel to the various emotions and states of mind. Visualize all of this in a central channel of awakening. The heart of this awakening is centered in the Tree of Life. The Aryeh Kaplan translation of the Bahir which I've been using here says 'watch the way.' Another translation from JPS Bible says to 'keep the way to the Tree of Life.' This is in response to being sent away from the Garden of Eden. The meaning of this is as follows. All of us have had moments of inspiration only to find ourselves lost inside of our doubts. The point of inspiration is where we touch the Garden of Eden. It is the spiritual center of connection. The 32 Paths allude to all of the ways in which we may return to this spiritual center of connection. The same symbolism is true of the date palm and all of its branches. It is the nature of inspiration to burst forth in a radiant glow reminiscent of the thousand petalled lotus formed by the enlightenment of the crown chakra. Radiance occurs all of the time showing us not only how it feels to be in the Garden of Eden but also showing us what we have done to get us there. The verse says that there is a form watching over each path. This form is the way back into the Garden of Eden or the return to this connected state of mind.

This relates specifically to the transformation of consciousness. Remember what gets you there is your ability to keep opening the doors within your mind to release the light of connection. Then travelling on this supernal beams you are able to feel the connection and live your life in connection.

There is only connection

There is only connection. For this means that I have this innate feeling of unity. I can liken this to having thousands of spiritual beings surrounding me at any given moment. Literally armies of angels aiding my cause. What is my cause? It is connection at all times. It is connecting via one door and than moving on to open the next door. These doors are the spiritual entryways into higher and higher states of understanding. Movement in consciousness is similar to movements in light with on major difference. Time is absent in spiritual journeys. When I think of a place no matter where it is located I am instantly transported there. There is no delay. The theory of relativity does not apply here. It is only after you understand this that the instantaneous transformation of consciousness is not only possible but it is inevitable. The corollary to this statement is that as you travel spiritually you are also able to transform the state of your being and indeed the mode of your travel. I cannot move anywhere unless I envision it first. Envisioning is the process of unfolding your spiritual wings and taking flight along the pathways of your heart's desire. Try not to think of this as seeing something you want. See this envisioning as recognizing what you are. It makes a world of different if you proceed in this way.

Thoughts are energy. Energy is either transformed or it decays. Decay is the result of entropy.
We have to be active in placing our thoughts where we want them to be. This process is called aspiration. Where there is nothing we look for more expecting to find more. As we continue on this path we find that here are the openings we've been looking for. It is the ultimate in travel when you recognize that the movements you are making are not confined to the physical body and not confined to the mind. There is something else which may be described however, it may not be named. It is this something else which is activated by connection.

Bahir 97

Listen carefully how the high watch takes place within. Remember to hear this high watch throughout all background noise.

Bahir 97. Rabbi Berachiah sat and expounded: What is the meaning of the verse (Exodus 25:2), "And they shall take for Me a lifted offering (Terumah) "? It means, "Lift Me up with your prayers." And whom? Those whose "hearts make them willing." These are the ones who are willing to draw themselves away from this world. Honour him, for it is in him that I rejoice, since he knows My name. From him it is fitting to take My lifted offering, as it is written (Exodus 25:2), "from each man whose heart makes him willing, you shall take My lifted offering." From he who makes himself willing. Rabbi Rahumai said: [This refers to] the righteous and pious in Israel who raise Me over all the world through their merit. From them the Heart is sustained, and the Heart sustains them.

Commentary: hmwrt Terumah, an offering. Tav Resh vav mem and heh are the letters. The center of this verse is the aspect of prayer. How should we pray and in what attitude shall our prayers be composed of. Consider what you are telling yourself about yourself lately and as a general rule. How do you judge you within. Are you fair or overbearing. Do you give yourself credit each day for the little things you find out or are able to do to help others? Carlos Suares in his book Spectrograms calls Tav... The cosmic tabernacle of Aleph which is Aleph itself acting in its fertile power. Without Tav no-thing would exist, without Aleph there is nothing. In the Sepher Yetzirah Tav is described: ---

"Make Tav king, bind a crown to it, and with it depict the Moon in the Universe, the Sabbath in the Year, and the mouth in the Soul." In this way we know that the start of your offering is to speak from your soul. The Sabbath is the interval which brings into play the primordial substance pregnant with potential. It is pregnant from the Moon symbol of femininity along with the symbol of the Year which is the fruition of that pregnancy. To put this in terms of Modern Kabbalah the first step is to acknowledge our good. Acknowledge that what we aspire to or for is worthy as with Tav the crown is placed. Put forth your deepest awareness of being and connect in the cycles of birth and rebirth culminating with your ultimate realization of Unity.

Resh is spoken of:
"Make Resh king, bind a crown to it, and with it depict Mercury in the Universe, Friday in the Year, and the left nostril in the Soul." ---It is thought (Mercury) which takes in the energy of awareness of Soul. There cannot be an offering without this connection to Soul. This point is stressed by the combination of Tav and Resh to start Terumah.

Vav: "Make Vav king, bind a crown to it, and with it depict Taurus, Iyar in the Year, and the left hand in the Soul." The month of Iyar is called the month of "Ziv" (radiance). Thought is also attributed to this month. The left hand of the Soul is shown by the ox in the four faces from Ezekials vision. Once a determination of thought has been made it may shine forth to illuminate each step that comes after.

Mem: "Make Mem king over water, bind a crown to it, and combine one with another. And with them seal earth in the Universe, the cold in the Year, and the belly in the Soul, the male with MASh, andthe female with ShMA." Now there can be the infusion of opportunity the transformations of form.

Heh: "How does one permute them? Make Heh king, bind a crown in it, and with it depict Aries in the Universe, Nissan in the Year, and the right hand in the Soul." Out of these transformations come the realization of your visions. It is as simple as that:)

Your offering is self contained. When they say above to be taken away from this world it is from the world of permanence where we experience the same old, same old. What you honor or the 'him' you honor is your highest self. It is how and where you receive your 'high watch' and are able to participate in the 'offering.' It is your willingness to let go of the status quo which brings in the new worlds for you to experience. It is your willingness to be kind to yourself in the thoughts that you habitually entertain. It is easy to become hypnotized but it is not freedom that you receive as a result of this. You become caught just like in the movie The Matrix living your programmed lives. The only problem is that you aren't doing the programming but are accepting the world by default. It is the purpose of Modern Kabbalah to show how we are able to participate in our own internal programming and how we are able to reject the status quo that impinges upon us in our daily lives. The verse closes with telling you that the Heart sustains them. Who are they that are sustained? It is you who follow that path of self awareness refusing to accept the mundane and continuing to watch for the wonder of your life in each moment. It is truly your passion that sustains you; your passion for joy and the ability to redirect your lives always to a higher purpose.

This was a complicated discussion. What you can take away with you is the process of studying the Hebrew letters to find their archetypal forms. It's all there in the Sepher Yetzirah which yields its treasures in most remarkable ways. We analyze and then find the relevance of each idea comparing them amongst themselves and with the over all spectrum of Consciousness.

Find that inner voice within and offer it up with all of your heart for connection with the mystery. There you truly will be sustained and find your way smoothed and paved with good every where you turn.
